  • Step 1: Open a Coinbase Account

Sign up for a Coinbase account. A secure place to store your Bitcoin/ Ethereum, and easy payment methods to convert your local currency into or out of BTC/ ETH. The process of opening an account is relatively simple, just requires your first name, last name, email address and a password.

You’ll be directed to verify your registration via your respective email by clicking on the activation link that was sent. If you can’t find the activation email, check your Spam folder or request the exchange to send another one. Please note that they may ask you for some verification documents such as national ID, Driver’s License and/or Passport.

Once verified, access your account using your registered username and password.

  • Step 2: Secure your account

Once you have your account, the next step is to make it more secure because you will be storing your money with them. Go to Settings, verify your phone and it is highly recommended that you set up Two-Factor Authentication. You will need to verify your login credentials by using your smartphone from which you’ll receive a unique one-time code to enter - Coinbase uses SSL encryption keys and wallet protection involves AES-256 code.

Coinbase holds insurance to protect your wallet from employee hacking or theft, an invasion of cyber holdings as well as a physical breach. To help protect against hackers, 98% of the funds in Coinbase wallets are stored offline.

Coinbase is considered a secure place to hold your funds initially, however, once your funds start to grow it is recommended to move them onto a hardware wallet when the eBTC Portal provides access to buy a native solution (soon!).

  • Step 3: Add your payment method

For small investments, you can always make a purchase using your credit/ debit card. Go to Settings -> Linked Accounts -> Credit/ Debit Card and follow the process. This will allow you to make instant purchases.

The other method, which is preferred for larger investments, is the direct bank transfer. You can follow the aforementioned process but instead of selecting Credit/ Debit Card in the last step you’ll need to select Bank Account. Coinbase only accepts SEPA transfers. Please use the reference code given as part of your transfer.

  • Step 4: Buy your Bitcoins or Ether

Once you’ve set up your preferred payment method, tap on the Buy/ Sell tab, select Bitcoin or Ethereum, select your preferred payment method and click Buy.

  • Step 5: Create an account on our Partner Exchange

The first step in the process is to create your Exchange account. This process is very simple. You are only required to provide a valid email address and password. Additional KYC verification occurs on most of our exchanges as an interactive and fluid process. Make sure that you think of a strong password when creating your account since this is a place where you will be storing funds.

To deposit funds, tap on the Account tab in the top navigation bar. Then scroll down the list and find either Ethereum or Bitcoin wallet, depending on which you want to deposit. Once you find your preferred coin, click on the Deposit icon. Copy the wallet address provided and paste it in the exchange’s wallet or the personal wallet where you have your crypto stored in order to send the funds to our Partner Exchange.

  • Step 6: Congratulations, you are ready to trade.

eBitcoin (EBTC) tokens! Click the Exchange tab in the top navigation bar. On the top right of the Exchange, select BTC (Bitcoin) or ETH (Ethereum) and search for EBTC/BTC or EBTC/ETH pairing on that exchange.

This will open the trading view of the pair you want to exchange. Find the Buy/Sell section of the page and place your Buy order. There you go, you have your first eBitcoin (EBTC) tokens.

  • Step 7: General Exchange Account Activation

After setting up an account with KuCoin, or one of our other reputable partner exchanges, check your respective email and click on the activation link that was sent. If you can’t find the activation email, check your Spam folder or request the exchange to send another one. Please note that they may ask you for some verification documents such as national ID, Driver’s License and/or Passport.

  • Step 8: Log in to your Account

Once your account is activated, log in and although it is not mandatory, it is highly recommended to set up at least Two-factor Authentication in order to strengthen the security of your account.

  • Step 9: Transfer Funds to your Account’s Wallet

On KuCoin, you can only buy eBitcoin (EBTC) tokens by using the appropriate Ethereum or Bitcoin pair. Therefore, you will need to transfer Ethereum or Bitcoin to the necessary exchange wallet of your account. If you do not yet have any BTC or ETH, you can buy some using fiat currency at Coinbase or your preferred exchange. Refer to steps 1 – 4 of this guide on how to buy Ethereum or Bitcoin.

After depositing ETH or BTC into your KuCoin or partner exchange account, you will need to transfer those crypto-assets to your ‘Trading Account’ to actually buy eBTC. Refer to the screenshot below to do this.

    You’re all done!

  • Step 10: Wait for the eBTC Portal to Launch

Once our portal is launched, Verified eBTC Portal Users can easily transfer their coins from any exchange onto their native eBTC Web Wallet to enable on-Portal transacting from our Verified Business Partners! It’s coming soon!
